About Rayalaseema University

The Rayalaseema University was come into existence in the year 2008 by act no. 29 of 2008 enacted by the legislature of the state of Andhra Pradesh and published in the Andhra Pradesh Gazette on 24 September 2008. This university is situated in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, India. Prior to this, the university was formally launched by G.O. Ms No. 89, higher education department , dated 25.6.2008.

The establishment of Rayalaseema University is part of the vision of Govt of Andhra Pradesh to promote access, equity and inclusive in higher education. The post graduate Centre at Kurnool was started by shri Venkateshwara University in 1977 with a view to imparting higher education especially to the rural youth of the backward District of Kurnool in drought-prone region of Rayalaseema.
